HOW TO BECOME AN ACCREDITED BEAUTY EDUCATOR - UK

Ever wondered how to become a fully accredited educator In the uk? Start teaching or open your own training academy!

Look no further, as I'm about to spill all the tea.

Let me start by being honest, you aren't going to set up your training academy over night, it's a process. It takes a lot of time and investment to get there but the results are worth every moment.

First things first-

To get your training courses accredited by an awarding body they will require you to have taken the level 3 AET course, this course is a basic introduction to teaching and teaches you everything you need to know about teaching in a classroom environment, it also teaches you how to structure a course to meet every students specific needs. The level 3 AET has no specific entry requirements, however, it is a lot of work. You will need to write around 300 words per question on the course. For me, starting a beauty business was due to me not being over academic in school, so if the thought of this is daunting to you, I'd advice you take your time and work section by section. In school I failed my English gcse 3 TIMES!!! So If I can do it you can too! The last section of the course you are required to do a micro-teach lesson via video of you pretending to teach a class (cringe,I know!!) I would always advise to create a lesson plan that is based on something you plan to teach in the future, you can then re-purpose this content in the future.

To start your journey to becoming an educator you can search LEVEL 3 AET - Learn to tech course in the search bar, or go to the 'accredited courses' section on my website.

The hardest hurdle is done.

Once you have successfully completely the level 3 AET, you can then go onto getting your courses accredited, most accreditation companies will require you to have held a certificate in what you plan to teach of a minimum of 6 months, sometimes 1 year dependant on your provider. I personally used ABT INSURANCE to get my courses accredited as I wanted the course to be personalised to my teaching style and business values, to do this you do need to provide all your own teaching materials too them, including a full manual, all resources and a lesson plan. If this seems like something you're not interested in doing then you can also teach others pre-accredited courses where they provide you with everything. Such as companies like 'the beauty guild'

Should you wish to go down the route of planning your own course and wanting to create your own manual, I would advice getting a template so that most of the hard work is already done for you, the information is there but you can add your own spin and personalise how you wish, if you go to the 'digital products' section of my website you can purchase my training lash manual (if thats what you wish to teach) which is fully editable and customisable to your own preference by downloading Canva and changing as you please!

Getting your courses accredited by any provider is an investment, I would recommend saving aside atleast £300 to cover all the costs.

Getting insured-

If you're reading this blog i will assume you're already a fully qualified beautician of some sort that knows the importance of getting insurance when carrying out beauty treatments, same goes for being an educator, you need to make sure you're getting specific teacher insurance so that you and your students are covered, speak to your accreditation company and they can usually point you in the right direction. Normally you will have to provide this before they accredit your courses.

FREE TIP

Once you have sent off your courses for accreditation, its a waiting game, sometimes the process can take up to 3 weeks, during this time, make sure your entering the 'pre launch' phase, this is the best way to build hype around your new courses being released, start talking to everyone you know about your new venture! I would look into getting a website running or opening a Stan store account so that you can capture emails of potential students! If you're on a budget to begin with you can also upload an instagram/Facebook story and ask for emails so they can be the first to know!

I hope you this guide helps someone wanting to start their own training academy journey, if you have any questions at all feel free to reach out to me at info@lashpaigepro.uk and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

All my love
